independence day

i think everyone says the 4th of july is their favorite holiday

but it REALLY is mine

the last few years we've spent the july 4th in hawaii

and lets just say i sure haven't hated it

this year we were in maui wowie to celebrate.  it was our first full day in hawaii so we spent the whole day on the beach, boogie boarding to our hearts content and trying to get rid of our embarrassingly white haole skin as fast as possible.

that night we went into lahaina to watch the firework show, which we ended up watching mostly from our car cuz we were running late (we didn't take long to be on "hawaiian time", aka being late to everything).  

the best part of the celebration though was getting our favorite shaved ice.  we are obsessed.  we get one almost every day while we are there, and the workers remember us since we come every summer.  i'm telling you though, these are are in the running for dessert of my last meal (if I ever have to choose one).  

fat kid problems? maybe.  but soooooo worth it.

also. please excuse dawson from being so un-festive in his green shirt.  

he decided it would be a good idea to only bring 3 shirts to hawaii.  

so high maintenance.
