the trip we were most excited for this season was this last one to seattle.
neither of us have ever been and it was on both of our lists of places we want to go,
especially because dawson applied to a few schools over there.
daws and i usually have the worst luck with weather, but this time we were lucky.
the sun was shining down on us and it was blue skies.
i think seattle was trying to convince us that we should move there because it was so pretty,
but we know the truth.
90% of the time it is grey, grey, grey.
nonetheless, we had an amazing time in our short 24 hrs we had to play.
brittany's little sister calli and her husband thurmond live there and we were so excited to see them.
they took us to a breakfast place that had the best (and fanciest) biscuits and gravy.
we were successful in eating a week's worth of calories in one meal.
mmmmmmmmm.
thurmond was a fantastic chauffeur and also drove us to pike place so we could do the tourist thing.
i was so excited to go to the original starbucks and get a drink to warm me up.
however i guess everyone else had that exact same thought because the line was a mile long.
lucky for us there is a starbucks every other block over there,
so we just walked a little ways and got ours from a much shorter line.
i still wonder if it would have tasted better from the original starbucks though?
i guess i will never know (although dawson insists it wouldn't).
we went to the pike place market so we could see shops and fish market.
i hope everyone has seen the team building video about the guys that throw the fish,
i feel like every company shows it to their new hires.
if you haven't, you probably need to so you can be good team players like us.
it was pretty much like seeing celebrities.
now in case you didn't know, seattle is home to the nordstrom mothership.
i mean, the nordstrom of ALL nordstroms.
as hard as i tried to convince dawson that this nordstrom needed at least 3 hrs of our time,
he disagreed for some reason. hmph.
we also had the 2nd largest nordstrom in square footage (pictured below)
right across the street from our hotel room.
but we didn't even step foot in it.
this was very tragic to me, however all is well because...
calli just happens to work at the nordstrom mothership in womens shoes.
and that nordstrom happened to be within walking distance of all our "important" tourists sights.
so since marriage is all about compromise (and like the fish market taught us, being a team player),
dawson let me go in for a little bit and have calli help me find some new boots.
i didn't get to see anything but womens shoes, but oh.
it was the most magnificent shoe section i've ever seen.
aaaaand also the most crazy busy.
you had to take a number to get someone to help you and bring out what you wanted to try on,
and then you had to fight to find a place to sit down and try on your shoes,
and then you had to distinguish which ones were yours because there were boxes and shoes everywhere.
it was an adventure in itself, but thankfully i was successful in finding some fabulous boots.
thanks again calli!
we also hit up the famous space needle, made for the worlds fair in 1962
(i would like to pretend that i'm just full of interesting facts like that but the truth is only dawson is and he told me that while waiting in the line that was 45 minutes long).
i'm glad we went to it though because it had the most amazing view of the city and lake washington.
we were temped to spit our gum off the top of it but we were pretty sure they would see us somehow,
and we are too poor to risk being fined a million dollars.
dawson and i are very good travel partners, which i think is VERY important.
we both want to see the world and i'm glad we will get to do it with each other.
we now have one more successful trip down, and hopefully many more to come.
see ya again soon seattle!!!
such a fun trip, and you two are so cute. i need to go back to seattle, i haven't been since i was little!!
