snow day

dawson used to hate the snow.
he hated cold weather and wanted to move us to california.
and then blair bought new snowmobiles.

now dawson and i are weather enemies.
he prays for fresh snow and is jubilant when it blizzards.
talk about a traitor.

although i will admit it was fun having a snow day with the whole kent family,
and taking all the little kids snowmobiling and sledding
and i will admit that i enjoyed myself and wouldn't mind going again sometime.

and i will admit that i can't be TOO mad at dawson,
because he looks pretty dang cute on that snowmobile.

however if he ever gets caught in an avalanche
and breaks a femur and ends up as one of my patients at the hospital…

i will be moving to california.

dana point

{the kent family}
the family vacation this year was to a beach house in dana point.
everyone else was there for a week, but sadly we could only come for the second half (stupid work).
here is the whole group together at ruby's for dinner the night we finally got there!
yes,  they are all extremely good looking people, who also can put down the food like champs.

 {the beach}
to say it was awesome having our backyard be the beach would be an understatement.
we LOVED it.
hours were spent playing wave tag with presley and the other kiddos, boogie and paddle boarding
(mostly by the men after we witnessed lauren be demolished by a wave), sunbathing, frisbee, etc.
it provided hours of free entertainment and a workout all in one!
which trust me, we needed after all of the incredible food and mass amount of treats we ate.

{tyler's birthday}
it seems like it's always someone's birthday during the family vacation.
but who wouldn't want to spend their birthday with their whole fam damily?!
tyler turned 27 and is officially halfway through med school.  very impressive, i know.

 {dana point harbor}
the boys went golfing one morning and daw was sweet enough to only golf 9 holes instead of 18,
so we took advantage of a the freetime and went to dana point harbor for lunch and a change of beach.
i'm currently laughing for the 1000th time about the seagull pooping right on dawson's back.
i literally saw the bird drop his load, watched it float through the air in slow motion, and plop on his neck.
he might not have found it as humerous at the time, but i found it absolutely hilarious

{a day at the ritz}
all us girls lucked out by getting the best, most generous mother-in-law in the world.
she sure knows how to show the girls a good time too!
diana took us out for the afternoon to get facials and massages.
oh yes, i might just be bold enough to say it was the best part of the trip.

{nieces and nephew}
i love all those little kiddos so freaking much!!!
they more than fill my need to have children so you can thank them for us not having kids for the next 10 years.
i mean, there's just no way i could reproduce kids that cute so why even try???
it might be hard to tell since i never got great pictures of them because they were constantly playing and on the go, but just trust me on this one.

{sunset}
the last night of the trip we were lucky enough to get a gorgeous sunset.
although it made it even more depressing that it was the last night.
(please also take note that i have the most gorgeous sister-in-laws)
it's a shame i only had my iphone to take these excessive amount of pictures,
but i hope you can tell how great of a trip it was,
and more importantly how FABULOUS we think our family is.

the rest of SF...

as much as we love colin, jamie and the girls and wish they lived in utah,
we sure love visiting them in san francisco.
they are the best hosts, stocking the fridge with everything we like
(chocolate milk and string cheese),
hitting the town with us for date nights,
and those girls sure make us question our decision to wait on having babies.
they are the cutest, most well behaved little kids you'll ever meet!

thanks again for a fabulous trip!
(and dawson's last spring break ever!)

a kent christmas

the christmas celebration never stops!
we were so happy to be able to watch our nieces and nephew open presents this year.
there is nothing more magical about christmas than a little kid opening a present from santa.
and it doesn't hurt that we have the absolute cutest nieces and nephew around!

it was so funny watching them open all their presents.
presley opened them all as fast as she could so she could,
while maybelle had to open and play with each present before she could move on to the next.
baby merida, barbie cruise ship (that i loved almost as much as presley), and the dress ups
were the big hits this year and rightfully so.
the toys they have for kids these days are amazing!
i wish i could play with them all without having to feel a little embarrassed.

then came time for the adult presents!!!
diana and blair spoiled us all rotten.
ipads, snowmobiling gear, clothes, traveling gear, etc. were showered upon us.
but the real highlight of my christmas presents was this:

don't mind the blurriness, just focus on the joy

you know you are a grown up when you get excited about getting a blender!
dawson and i look up "will it blend" videos on youtube all the time,
and i have been dreaming of the time that i would one day own a blendtec.
well the time has come, and you can bet i have been blending away on a daily basis!

another great idea by diana this year was christmas bingo!
it was similar to the white elephant game where you can either open or steal someone's present.
the battle was intense and things might have gotten a little competitive...
but luckily all the gifts were amazing so we all ended up with something awesome.
it was a lot of fun and hopefully the start of a new tradition!

now christmas festivities and christmas music are over for a whole year.
boo.
but at least we will have lots of healthy blended smoothies to look forward too!
