happy three years!

i can not believe that we have been married

three.
whole.
years.

time has just flown by.

we celebrated our anniversary weekend by taking a break from the house.
we went out to an indian dinner for two reasons,
1- because we love indian food and we went out for indian last year too
2- because it was the only place we could think of to go at 7pm on a friday night,
that wouldn't be packed with a two hour wait.

then up for a night in park city,
staying at the same place we did for our first anniversary.

hot tubbing, relaxing, movie watching,
treat eating, a breakfast buffet, and park silly.

it was a great time celebrating all that has happened the past three years.
no marriage is perfect, but i think we have been able to make ours a little better every day.

when i think back to over three years ago
and the enormous decision we made to get married for forever,
i really do get a little emotional.

if you know me at all, you know that i am terrible at making decisions.

crunchy or creamy peanut butter?
do i get the black boots or the brown?
where do i want to go out to eat tonight?
what color grey should we paint the wall?

all pretty much impossible for me to decide.

even cafe rio still gives me anxiety
(question upon question with an spanish accent… nightmare).

but when i think back to the question of marrying dawson,
i can honestly say it is one of the few questions that i have been able to answer
without a doubt in my mind.

i love that boy and am so grateful every day that i am lucky enough to be married to him.

happy anniversary to us!

happy 2nd anniversary!

with everything that has been going on in our lives lately,
we decided to make this year a very laid back anniversary celebration.
no anniversary trip obviously meant that we could spend our day eating as much food as possible,

so our first stop was dawson's surprise choice of a breakfast spot.
pig & a jelly jar did not disappoint.
i pulled the classic restaurant girl trick:
find two things i want off the menu consisting of one semi-healthy thing that I can order,
and then something ridiculous unhealthy for dawson to get that i can't justify ordering myself
but can somehow eat as much as i want to off of dawson's plate and it's fine because HE ordered it.

i'm glad i did because while my egg sandwich was fantastic,
his biscuits and gravy were so freaking amazing that i was leaning over the table
eating off of his plate for most of breakfast.

after our breakfast put us in a minor food coma,
we did our favorite saturday activity:
going to open houses and pretending we are in the market to buy one.
since it was our anniversary we decided to go to classier open houses,
and fell in love with a darling house that was about $200,000 over our imaginary budget.
(which is sadly still bigger than our actual budget)
we decided that it will be a few more anniversaries til that can be a reality.

then we had to hang out with the dasher of course,
so we went on a quick hike to dog lake.
dash usually makes the whole hike with ease,
but the 100 degree heat didn't agree with his black body so daw had to help him out a little.
that's why his tongue is hanging out like he is has rabies.

when we finally decided we could fit some more food in our bellies,
we headed to my surprise choice of dinner.
i had heard from so many people that pallet was amazing,
and we now officially agree with them.
granted we are very talented orderers and can usually pick out the best items on the menu,
but that night we were especially on top of our game.
gnocchi for an appetizer, ravioli for dawson and salmon for me
(yep, sticking with the same ordering style from breakfast).
we went from planning on taking half of our meals home for leftovers,
to fighting over the last bite and licking our plates clean.
my mouth is watering just remembering all this food deliciousness.

hanging out with dawson all day was the best anniversary celebration i could have asked for.

i'm even more grateful for him now at two years of marriage than i was on our last anniversary.  this second year of marriage has taught us so much about each other and the strength of our relationship.  dawson is my very best friend, and it amazes me that we can continue to grow closer and i can still fall more in love with him every day.  my life got better the minute dawson became a part of it, and i will forever be in amazement that i was lucky enough to become his wife.

i can't wait for what the future holds in store for us in our 3rd year together as
  mr. and mrs. kent.

engagement anniversary

we got engaged in SF over spring break 2 years ago
and we've been lucky enough to go back every year since
(colin and jamie live in SF and are the best hosts).

they let us take their car and we went and did our usual city activities,
but my favorite is always going to the little beach where dawson pulled off the best surprise
and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him..

dash diaries

one year ago we surprised ourselves and came home with the cutest puppy in the world, who turned into the best dog in the world. and by surprised i mean i was planning it for months.

lucky for us, he has never chewed anything of ours up, he rings a bell to go outside to the bathroom, he never ever ever barks, he makes friends with every person or dog he sees, and waits patiently outside our door every night until we finally let him up on our bed to go to sleep.  i think he knew that if he wasn't the world's most well behaved dog, dawson would have found him a new home with the jack rabbits in the west desert.

i know i'm a little biased, but a dog this great definitely deserves a little blog recognition.

happy anniversary dash!!!

happy anniversary

happy anniversary to us!!!

our anniversary was july 21st, and it just so happened that we were in priest lake.
even though we were on a family vacay, that didn't stop us from doing a little celebrating!
dawson took me out on a hot date, and we took the boat over to a restaurant on the lake.
it was quite the little adventure,
and we had so much fun going over memories of our first year of marriage over dinner.

but the REAL surprise of the day....
dawson got me a wedding band!
he had known i wanted a gold band ever since we got married,
but we had decided that we would get one for our 5 year anniversary (newlywed budget!).
being the sneaky guy that he is, he slipped the ring on my finger while i was sleeping.
we woke up early because daws was going golfing with the boys.
i didn't noticed the ring until after i had kissed him goodbye and almost fallen back asleep
(it was 6am people).
but once i noticed i had some new bling on my finger,
i had to run and chase him down so i could give him a huge smooch and say thank you!!!
isn't it B-E-A-U-tiful?!

once we got home we wanted to REALLY celebrate our anniversary
(come on, 1 year is quite an accomplishment)!

dawson planned a day date to lagoon, because he knows how much i love the place.
we had a blast rollercoaster hopping, and the new ride "air race" is way legit.
although my favorite will always be the tilt-o-whirl.
i have so much fun with my husband and he always makes me laugh so hard.
i was cracking up because daw had heard about how indians would hold water in their
mouths and then go running for 50 miles without water but would stay hydrated because of
the water in their mouth.  he was convinced this was legit, and was going through the
park holding water in his mouth as long as he could.
ok maybe it doesn't sound that funny right now, but at the time it was hilarious.

for the night, i chose the bombay house for dinner.
mmmm mmmm goood.
then we went up to the chateaux at silver lake to spend the night.
it was so gorgeous up there in the mountains.
i mentioned to dawson how it reminded me of the mountains in switzerland,
and he decided that it was necessary to make me speak swiss (german) for the next 10 minutes.
i have to say though, i did a pretty good job.
i dare anyone else to try to speak nothing but swiss for 10 minutes straight when
they don't actually know a word of the language.
we also had to eat our wedding cake of course,
which we did while laying in the big comfy bed.
we still have enough left to last us for the next 5 years.

another side note:
as soon as we checked in at the lobby, "our song" came on the overhead speakers.
it had come on the radio right after we got engaged,
after we picked up our marriage certificate,
when we got home from our honeymoon,
and when we were on our boating date.
if that's not a sign that we are meant to be then i don't know what is!

the next day (after sleeping in) we went out for breakfast.
we had to get dawson's favorite unlimited french toast from kneaders.
and then we went and checked out the farmers market on main street.

i loved all of our anniversary celebrations so much,
but i love my sweet husband even more.
i still feel like the luckiest girl in the world
and i am so blessed to be able to call him mine.

9 Months

9 month anniversary!

If we were having a honeymoon baby, I would be as big as a house right now.  Thank the heavens we aren't... but crazy that we've been married long enough to have had a baby!  Although I do consider Dash my baby.

Time has flown by supa fast.  We are closing in on a year here people.  And don't worry, we are still going strong.  I'm confident in saying we are going to make it to our first real big anniversary (although I sure don't mind celebrating these little ones)!

Nope, I don't get sick of posting wedding day pics either!

3.23.2012

I said YES

1 year ago today exactly.

If you really want to, you can read all about it HERE

In order to celebrate, we ate ourselves sick off of cheesecake with the Snow's.
Totally worth it.

I mean really, is there any better way to show your love then to laugh your butt off with cheeks full of Red Velvet Cheesecake?  That pretty much describes us perfectly.

Oh, and also of very important note:

Today is National Puppy Day!!!!

We celebrated Dash by getting his hair did and letting him play with his best buddy Max.  I was worried he wouldn't look cute with his hair cut, but lets face it, he's still the world's most adorable dog.  See for yourself.

I love both my boys so much, don't know what I'd do with them

6 month Anniversary

WOW.
We have been married for 6 months today.
Time flies.

Marriage has been the best adventure in my life so far.  I've learned a lot about myself, and even more about Dawson.  Here are some things the past 6 months have taught us about life, marriage, and each other.

  • Laundry and dishes NEVER END
  • Being the first to say sorry is not very fun, but sometimes necessary  (especially when you don't think it's your fault)
  • Dawson is a super star dish washer and trash taker outer
  • I am not a super star cook (but I'm getting better!)
  • Working full time makes you appreciate any time spent with your spouse
  • Dawson never leaves his clothes on the floor.  Ever.  It's freaky.
  • I actually CAN keep a house clean... for a few days at a time
  • We can survive without having cable television despite our childhood TV watching habits
  • Dawson is a good grown up- he knows about insurance, stocks, budgeting, finances, etc. (What I know about that stuff is about equivalent to my knowledge of the mating habits of African Elephants)
  • Family ward sacrament meetings are a lot louder than Single Ward's
  • Talking things out accomplishes a lot more than the silent treatment
  • It's still possible to learn something completely new about the other person even after knowing each other for 7 years and being married for 6 months.  Lucky for me, every new thing I find out about my husband only makes me fall even more in love with him.
