dana point

{the kent family}
the family vacation this year was to a beach house in dana point.
everyone else was there for a week, but sadly we could only come for the second half (stupid work).
here is the whole group together at ruby's for dinner the night we finally got there!
yes,  they are all extremely good looking people, who also can put down the food like champs.

 {the beach}
to say it was awesome having our backyard be the beach would be an understatement.
we LOVED it.
hours were spent playing wave tag with presley and the other kiddos, boogie and paddle boarding
(mostly by the men after we witnessed lauren be demolished by a wave), sunbathing, frisbee, etc.
it provided hours of free entertainment and a workout all in one!
which trust me, we needed after all of the incredible food and mass amount of treats we ate.

{tyler's birthday}
it seems like it's always someone's birthday during the family vacation.
but who wouldn't want to spend their birthday with their whole fam damily?!
tyler turned 27 and is officially halfway through med school.  very impressive, i know.

 {dana point harbor}
the boys went golfing one morning and daw was sweet enough to only golf 9 holes instead of 18,
so we took advantage of a the freetime and went to dana point harbor for lunch and a change of beach.
i'm currently laughing for the 1000th time about the seagull pooping right on dawson's back.
i literally saw the bird drop his load, watched it float through the air in slow motion, and plop on his neck.
he might not have found it as humerous at the time, but i found it absolutely hilarious

{a day at the ritz}
all us girls lucked out by getting the best, most generous mother-in-law in the world.
she sure knows how to show the girls a good time too!
diana took us out for the afternoon to get facials and massages.
oh yes, i might just be bold enough to say it was the best part of the trip.

{nieces and nephew}
i love all those little kiddos so freaking much!!!
they more than fill my need to have children so you can thank them for us not having kids for the next 10 years.
i mean, there's just no way i could reproduce kids that cute so why even try???
it might be hard to tell since i never got great pictures of them because they were constantly playing and on the go, but just trust me on this one.

{sunset}
the last night of the trip we were lucky enough to get a gorgeous sunset.
although it made it even more depressing that it was the last night.
(please also take note that i have the most gorgeous sister-in-laws)
it's a shame i only had my iphone to take these excessive amount of pictures,
but i hope you can tell how great of a trip it was,
and more importantly how FABULOUS we think our family is.

more maui...

for the first half of the vacay we stayed in a condo at the ritz-carlton.
the sweetest part about it was that we were a 30 second walk to the pool
and a 60 second walk to the beach.

the balcony had pretty much the best view in the world.
i gave dawson ender's game awhile ago and he started reading it on the trip.
i've never seen him read so much (besides the lsat book)
although with that setting and an amazing book to read, i sure don't blame him.

while i think we could have just hung out at the condo all day and been just fine,
most of our days we went out to one of the beaches nearby
and when we were tired of the beach we would hit up the pool.
it was really rough, i don't know how we managed it.

at night we would usually go out to lahaina
sometimes we'd get dinner, sometimes we'd just walk the strip
but we would ALWAYS end the night with shave ice

we also made it to church on sunday,
where my dad wore his lava lava like he always does every year.
even though every year he is the only one at church wearing one

halfway through the trip we had to leave the ritz condo
 and move to a house that was a 5 minute walk to the beach.
we missed the ritz condo but it was nice to have our own pool and more space.

and for dawson it was nice to have a massage chair
seeing as any free moment we had he would sneak up there
and get massagersized

and just as if there was any doubt that kylie was the favorite child...
let me show you HER room, aka the master bedroom.
she had to have it because "she was the only one who loved purple":

i have to add, that this was year's vacation was much better than last years for one reason only
me and dawson are MARRIED!
last year we went 2 weeks before our wedding and let me tell you.
it was pure torture.
needless to say, it was much better to be able to share a room with dawson
and not have to keep a 2 foot distance while in swimming suits.

alright then,
i only have one more post about maui and then it's aloha until next year!
